DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

David Sims

David was born and raised in Champaign, IL, where he was active in music from an early age.

After high school he headed north to attend St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, where he earned a B.M. in Church Music/Organ. While at St. Olaf he toured nationally and internationally with the St. Olaf Choir and held several leadership positions with the group. He was also active as a cantor and organist for chapel services at the college and a teaching assistant for the Department of Music. In 2008 David earned a Masters of Music in Organ Performance from Indiana University, studying under Dr. Larry Smith.

David has been at North Christian since 2007, where he has gradually learned to be an Illinoisan with Hoosier clothes. He also works for Goulding & Wood Pipe Organ Builders, Inc. of Indianapolis where he helps maintain 150 organs around the region as well as build new organs in their shop.
