Six virtual Holy Week services will be available for viewing on the church’s YouTube channel. Plan to watch one each day, Monday through Saturday, OR “binge watch” them, as you are able. Experience the final week of Jesus’ life on earth through the story-telling lens of the persons closest to him. Each brief service will contain scripture, art, drama, music, and an activity for you to do at home to make the story come alive.
Before sitting down to watch any of the Holy Week videos, please gather some household items to participate in the activity that accompanies each episode. Monday: Mary, friend of Jesus – a shallow bowl with a dollop of oil in it Tuesday: Simon Peter, disciple – a large serving bowl filled with warm water and a couple hand towels Wednesday: Judas, disciple – elements for communion – bread or a cracker and some kind of juice or beverage. If you have some kind of vessel that resembles a chalice, use that to contain the juice Thursday: a Roman soldier – a red cloth, such as a towel or t-shirt Friday: Mary, mother of Jesus – a jar filled with water Saturday: Salome, disciple – a candle for each person and something to light it with, and a cross or something that symbolizes one Use this Guide for Reflection as an accompaniment to your journey through the week. Reflect on the discussion questions; journal your responses or call a friend to talk about what you are discovering and meditating on. Carve out some time in your home worship space and participate in Holy Week in a very unique way.
