On November 11 and 18, we will join other Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) churches across the US and Canada by collecting the Thanksgiving offering. Giving to the Thanksgiving offering helps to support the work of our institutions of higher learning in many ways: financially supporting Disciples related schools, providing undergraduate scholarships and support for spiritual life offices, and providing scholarships and support for those pursuing theological education.
With the cool temperatures, it's a great time to warm up with some crockpot cuisine, tasty treats, and good conversation. Share in the monthly meal, sponosored by Disciples Women Ministries, this Sunday after service!
Transgender Day of Remembrance is a time to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. This year we will gather at UUCCI at 5pm for a joint service planned by UUCCI, First Presbyterian, and NCC with refreshments and a vigil. Let us gather to express love and respect for those who have died in the face of national indifference and hatred.
![]() In the mid-1980s, the hotel chain Motel 6 employed Tom Bodett as their spokesperson. Tom ended every commercial with "We'll Leave the Light on For Ya." It was a slogan meant to convey a sense of hospitality and welcome. With a heavy twang in his voice, the familiar refrain communicated a feeling of family. Belonging. Home. As we look to a service recognizing the saints who have gone on before us, we know in our heart of hearts we will be reunited with our loved ones, and with God, some day. Perhaps they are leaving a light on for us! |
